PRACTICAL ZOOLOGY (2015 OLD SYLLABUS)

The authors are indeed very happy to present this book ‘A Text Book of Practical Zoology’ for the students of S.Y.B.Sc. of Pune University. Learning of any science subject is incomplete without experiments and demonstrations. Hence, theoretical and practical training has given equal importance in the syllabus of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The subject Zoology is an interesting and live subject of life sciences in which more emphasis is given on practical studies. Along with classical zoology, number of applied zoology courses are included in the syllabus of S.Y.B.Sc. class. Teaching and learning becomes more and more meaningful if field excursions, Visits to Fishery, Sericulture, Apiculture, Agriculture University or Agriculture Farm or Sea Shore units are arranged. Close observations, handling of the animals, Study of the various animals in their natural habitats, their life-cycle etc. are the most effective methods of study of Zoology. Along with the laboratory studies field studies are most important for thorough understanding of the subject.
